Smokey Kudu

Tucked snug above Marylebone restaurant Kudu, Smokey Kudu offers a quietly immersive escape from the bustle of Marylebone. Interiors glow with red clay-toned walls, low lighting and plush velvet seating, anchored by a homely flickering fireplace as well as powerful artwork from Zimbabwean photographer Tamary Kudita. Order the smoked prawn cruller with miso, pickled cucumber and dill – an indulgent, umami-rich bar snack. The Saffa-rita is sharp, punchy and pleasantly sour, whilst the Cape Old Fashioned is fragranced with just enough cherry to temper the bitter notes without too much sweetness. For something bright with fruit-forward flavours, I’d recommend the Kalahari Sunset. This is as much a destination in its own right (especially suited for pairs and small groups) as it is an ideal spot for a pre or post dinner tipple.
