El Pastor has become a mini-empire within the Harts Group stable to rival the ever-popular Barrafina. We love El Pastor's lively, fun vibe, and the menu is packed with great stuff, from ceviches to quesadillas, tacos, and larger sharers with fresh corn tortillas. A clutch of salsas which vary in heat level are all made in-hiuse too. We especially like the King's Cross location where the heated terrace makes a great hangout all year round, but frankly, El Pastor is fast becoming one of our go-to, reliable spots in London.
mood lively, fun vibe; King's Cross location has a heated terrace that makes a great hangout all year round
El Pastor sits right beside Borough Market and practically hums with energy. It’s from the team behind Barrafina, but here, the focus is squarely on tacos, and they do them right. The tortillas are made fresh daily from heritage corn, and the fillings range from slow-cooked pork shoulder to chipotle chicken, all served with salsas that actually bite back.

Taqueria serving tacos, mezcal and tostadas. Famous for their frozen margaritas. Loved in the West End, Soho. With its vibrant atmosphere and tantalizing Mexican fusion, El Pastor Soho is the perfect destination for a gathering with family or friends. Experience mouthwatering dishes served fresh from their market-style kitchen! And don’t miss out on their extensive tequila & cocktail menu — they have something to satisfy any craving.

mood vibrant atmosphere and tantalizing Mexican fusion; market-style kitchen
Inspired by the decade-long stint founders Sam Hart and Crispin Somerville spent running Mexico City nightclub El Colmillo and searching for the city’s best al pastor taco, El Pastor first opened just off Borough Market in 2016 and quickly expanded across the capital... Serving up tacos, tostadas and quesadillas, packed with fresh, aromatic flavours and a good dose of spice, every one of El Pastor’s tortillas is made in-house from heritage Mexican corn and served alongside an impressive array of tequilas and mezcals.
mood lively, informal taquerias
Home to London’s best tacos, El Pastor boasts a series of Mexican taquerias in London. Known for using the freshest ingredients and making its own tortillas in-house using heritage Mexican corn, you won’t find anywhere better in the city for soft tacos. Its flagship restaurant, El Pastor, located on Stoney Street, is the place to head for a traditional Mexico City experience. Think endless tostadas, quesadillas, tacos and, of course, mezcal. The menu is made up of delicious dishes to share, from the gringa quesadilla packed with chargrilled pork ends, Oaxaca-style cheese, salsa, white onion and coriander to short rib with roast bone marrow.

A fun new fiesta spot is coming to Glasgow city centre, adding yet another quirky and .unusual location to the city’s already eclectic mix of nights out. Mezcal, a Mexican taqueria and bar, is set to open in the coming weeks on Hope Street, hosting a number of live DJ sets from Thursday to Saturday. The namesake Mexican spirit is a sure-fire party starter and packs one hell of a punch - a promising sign of things to come from the venue. Housed in a former insurance brokers, the restaurant is the newest member of the Rotunda Group... we’re guessing that alongside a range of tacos, the 40-cover cantina will also specialise in a number of other popular Mexican-style dishes and drinks - in other words:bring on all the tequila.
mood A fun new fiesta spot, quirky and unusual location. Type of night: Chatting and Drinking, Chilling with mates, Date night, Drinking and Dancing, Eating and Drinking.
This taqueria is opening its third main site. Promising a ‘fiesta spirit’, with atmospheric decor evoking 19th-century Mexico City, its new dishes include the vegetarian poblano chile relleno, Baja California scallop tostada, and spiced crispy duck tacos. There’s also a mezcal bar in the basement.

El Pastor is more of a restaurant than a Mexican bar, but who says you can’t have the best of both worlds? This specific brand has several locations in London: Borough Market (the original), Soho and King’s Cross. So pick your closest one and enjoy their true fiesta spirit! Here you are not only encouraged to try their cold beers or authentic Margaritas (Diablito is the MVP), but THE TACOS.

This place is all about the tacos and mezcal. The vibe is super casual, but the food and drinks are top-notch. They've got a great selection of mezcals, and the staff is always happy to help you pick the perfect one.

If there’s anything that encapsulates weekend brunch more than this drink, then we’d like to see it. There’s also a spiced mango and a hibiscus and honeydew version, but this pale green margarita is really the one you want.

Part of Wahaca’s Charlotte Street branch, what we particularly like about this bar is that it ignores tequila altogether in favour of lesser-known and generally better value mezcal. From punches to on-the-rocks, or instead of vodka in a Bloody Mary, the drink gets everywhere, and we’ve found the staff to be more than geared up for explaining exactly what’s what. Given it’s Wahaca, food is naturally on hand.
Another popular Mexican spot in the city centre, make sure you book your space at the Hope Street cocktail cantina, as it gets super busy - particularly around the weekend.

El Pastor are well-known for their authentic Mexican menu, including their agave cocktails. The four London locations will each be giving away margaritas to those dining (booked or walk-in), with two varieties available – the frozen El Pastor or the On The Rocks, which does exactly what it says on the tin.
